Description: The 9th Grade Summer Jumpstart Program Coordinator will participate in the planning, organization and administration of the 9th Grade Summer Jumpstart Program to support incoming 9th graders as they transition to high school.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Three years (minimum) successful experience as classroom teacher or administrator.
2. Ability to organize, coordinate, and communicate with summer school staff
3. Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
4. Successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities, and/or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to equity and strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with a diverse population.
5. Bilingual preferred.

 

REPORTS TO: Megan Jackson, Assistant Principal, Canby High School

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Attends organizational meetings with the District Office and other summer school staff.
2. Organizes the summer school curriculum in consultation with appropriate members of the Teaching and Learning, high school administrative and counseling teams.
3. Supports the training of summer school staff with the Student Success Coordinator.
4. Establishes procedure for acquiring substitute teachers.
5. Prepares the summer school staff schedule and supports the professional development of staff with the Student Success Coordinator.
6. Assumes responsibility for registration and assignment of students in collaboration with principals and high school counselors.
7. Requisitions and inventories classroom equipment, supplies, and textbooks, as needed.
8. Assumes responsibility for supervision of students and addresses questions and concerns from parents and students.
9. Responsible for student attendance and submits enrollment and attendance reports as required.
10. Prepares and oversees dissemination of publicity and information concerning summer school.
11. Monitors the quality of instruction for summer school course offerings.
12. Reports and certifies to proper authorities the grades and progress achieved by summer school students.
13. Prepares and maintains required records.
14. Prepares and administers the summer school operating budget in collaboration with the Student Success Coordinator.
15. Prepares and submits a final report summarizing the program and operating budget.
16. Other duties as assigned by CHS administrations and/or Student Success Coordinator.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: May – July

 

Planning time, outside of classroom or school administrative hours, as necessary for organization and development of summer school program and recruitment and training of staff.

 

On-site administration of summer school program, based on summer school calendar. Tentative program dates: August 5th to August 15th with a professional development day prior to the start of the program.

 

Rate: Paid at the curriculum rate with additional hours for coordination.

 

In addition to salary, district pays the employee's 6% contribution to PERS.
